Dr. David Doig has extensive experience in musical performance, education and business. He is the owner of The Bayport School of Music, founded in 1996. The school provides music lessons to the local community and encourages students to experience the joy of music. He is the most patient teacher you will find! Dr. Doig holds an earned Doctorate in Classical Guitar Performance from The State University of New York at Stony Brook. He performed a solo debut at Carnegie Hall in 1991 to a sold out audience at Weill Recital hall. The New York Times commented “played splendidly”. Dr. Doig has been a full time Associate Professor at Five Towns College and currently is an adjunct Associate Professor in an interdisciplinary capacity, teaching both music and business courses. David Doig is a signed recording artist with Musea Records. “The Bridge” recording with the progressive rock group Cathedral earned accolades as one of the top 20 progressive recordings released in 2007 receiving rave reviews from Metal Hammer Magazine and many others, surpassing releases from such legendary performers such as David Gilmore of Pink Floyd and many other recognized established performers in this genre. Doctor Doig’ s ground breaking “Solo Music for Acoustic Guitar” released in 2006 redefined what a Solo Acoustic guitar could do as far as combining Classical Guitar technique with elements of improvisation within a solo guitar context. David will be releasing a new solo recording and a recording with Paul Seal of Cathedral in 2011. David Doig has helped Telecare television to raise millions of dollars, performing on live Television for their annual Telecare Telethons 2006-2011.
